Teaching Philosophy

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say “I used everything You gave me.” -Erma Bombeck I found out that Art Education stimulates the imagination, develops self-esteem and encourages openness towards the opinions of others. The program enables each student to develop positive attitudes toward self, others and the environment through creative experiences. Problem solving and creative learning encourages the student relate the visual arts to every subject in a school’s curriculum. Integrating between every subject is needed to provide students with a rich art education.

Personal Biography

I have been teaching for 20 years at St. John the Evangelist; first year as a preschool teacher followed by 19 years as the art teacher.
I have taught 8 years in the northern Illinois area(by Chicago); Savanna, Il and then Poplar Grove, IL, first 4 years were grades K-12 and final 4 at North Boone High School.
I have been blessed with a wonderful husband of 26 years, 3 children, 2 daughters, 1 son, whom all have been a Saint John student, recently added a new son-in-law and a grandson. I have worked with many after school programs in the areas of art, music, theater and sports. In my spare time, I love being with my family. We are in 4-H together, owning and raising many different types of animals. We enjoy horseback riding, hiking, sports, volunteering with Santa Cops and just about any activity as a family.
