Music Education, Emphasis on Voice

How blessed I am to be a Colorado native from the eastern plains of Yuma, where I grew up in a small farming community. I attended AIMS Community College in Greeley after high school and acquired an Associate of Arts degree in Music. I then attended the University of Northern Colorado and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education, emphasis in Voice. I specialized in music education, involving general music, choir, and instrumental music instruction, within public schools for 7 years, teaching 6 years at Lone Star School District and 1 year at Yuma School District. I hold a professional teaching license for K-12 Music. Upon the arrival of my fourth child, I decided to stay home with my children; Eli, Ethan, Caleb and Chrissy. For four years I also provided a state licensed child care facility from our home while keeping active with music and teaching children through various church activities. How exciting it is for me to now be at Saint John's and return to music education! My husband, Cody, and I are glad to be a part of this wonderful community!

My passion is working with children through music. I believe in providing an engaging experience where children can express themselves and learn through music by singing, dancing, moving, and playing various instruments. I also believe in the importance of music; how it ties core subjects together and strengthens cognitive connections. Children become stronger learners as they grow in understanding, knowledge, appreciation, and love for music. How wonderful to see children praising God through music!
