sycamore

Sycamore is our parent communication system.  It provides parents with real-time grade information, including the student's overall grade as well as grades for homework and tests in each class in which the student is enrolled.

REPORT CARDS

Report Cards are sent home each trimester. If you have any questions about your child's progress, please make an appointment to see your child's teacher.

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS

St. John's School believes that children benefit from homework. You can help your children by arranging a quiet place for them to work and by encouraging them to complete assignments.
Homework allows students to:

  1. Learn responsibility and independence.

  2. Explore independent study, complete research, and develop creative thinking.

  3. Review, enrich, and reinforce concepts taught at school.

  4. Involve their parents.

  5. Complete work not finished at school.

  6. Complete make-up work due to absence.

  7. Prepare and review for tests and assessments.

The following time allotments are a guide for teachers and parents. If your child has difficulty completing work within this time frame, please contact your child's teacher. For those in the lower grades, these times may include reading to or listening to students read.

Grades K - 1   10 minutes

Grade 2         20 minutes

Grade 3         30 minutes

Grade 4         40 minutes

Grade 5         50 minutes

Grades 6 - 8   60 minutes
